It's been a month since our last four-day weekend on the boat... the Fourth of July extravaganza with the Homan's. This time it would be just the First Mate and I. We've been experiencing problems with the head for a couple of weeks and I knew that it was time to replace all of the gaskets and seals. Not a fun job, by the way. We left Dayton in the morning, arriving at Catawba around noon, then spent the next couple of hours driving around looking for the appropriate parts. One store owner said that he would have them tomorrow, so with nothing else to do, we left for an evening at Kelley's Island.
| The north bay of the island was a little quieter than most weekends. Gone were the jet skis and the intertubes full of screaming kids being pulled by loud stinkpots. In their place were hundreds of seagulls, feeding on the small fish that were schooling in the bay. Seagulls are obnoxious birds who fight each other for whatever food they can find. Still, it was interesting to see one flock of seagulls after another chase each round the boat. (for you old people, did you just remember an 80's band?) |
