Last year we would have paid good money for a cool day and bucket of rain. You can't give it away this year.
We arrived at Herl's Harbor Friday evening as an approaching cold front was putting on a show from Therapy's stern. We watched the lightning flash for hours over Leamington and other neighboring towns in Canada before going to bed. At 3am, the front caught up with us and we were rocked by high winds, constant lightning and 2.5 inches of rain. The streets around Catawba Island were flooded the next morning. Although finished by daybreak, we waited until afternoon before departing the marina and heading to Put In Bay for a little Christmas-In-July celebration.
We met three generations of Millat family at the Boardwalk for drinks Saturday evening and to hear the horns blow with the lowering of the flag. A walk around the park revealed that Disco Inferno was in town at the Boat House. Not wanting to pass a chance to shake our booty with the afro-wigged band, we stayed for a few drinks and caught the water taxi back to the boat at midnight.
You guessed, it was no sooner than my head hit the pillow when it started to rain. Batten down the hatches and close the ports! We're getting use to the cool weather and rain.
