Last weekend had almost everything, from broken halyards to tornado watches to rain and lightning, but no sailing. This weekend was different. We got the halyard fixed and were able to get out on the lake... with our sails out.... and enjoy what sailors love... cruising about without the use of our diesel engine.
Saturday afternoon brought more severe thunderstorm watches, but also a great breeze as we cruised up to Middle Bass Island averaging 5 to 6 knots. The anchorage in Schoolhouse Bay was nearly desserted with the threat of bad weather which was fine with us. One other sailboat and the U.S.S Niagara were on the hook with us. We saw the Niagara last year during Memorial Day and its still just as impressive.
